In a nutshell, she’s a deathly shy, creative, yarn hoarder, battling depression.
My Mum taught me to knit when I was eight, and although I didn’t appreciate it so much at the time, I am so grateful. I never really liked the look of crochet, so it wasn’t something I was interested in…UNTIL my daughter was born. I stumbled upon the cutest crocheted shoes, so I quickly taught myself how to crochet to make them for her. And so it began. I loved creating and thought I would sell some of my creations on Etsy, so I had to come up with a name. Since the majority of what I was making was hats and shoes, I came up with Noggins 2 Piggies and the name has stuck with me all these years.
I became a busy Mum and an even busier employee working ridiculous hours that I no longer had time to do what I loved.
Then COVID hit and I was doing great, until I wasn’t. My world crashed and I could no longer cope.
While doomscrolling through social media in bed one day I came across a photo of an amigurumi that was so cute I just HAD to make it! And so, my house has been taken over by (more) yarn and creations and as a result, I can usually get out of bed in the mornings.
My creative spark has returned as I choose colours to create a new project, or happily hunt for a new pattern to make. Creating this website, has been a labour of love, painstakingly changing every nuance I don’t love. I haven’t done any web design in a few years, so it’s been great digging into the backend of the site’s coding and playing with Photoshop and Illustrator again. Plus, with Crochet with Bay‘s tracking spreadsheet as a starting point, I have also gotten excited about Excel again, putting my own spin on how I want it to work for me.
Thank you for being here and taking the time to look around my site and read through this section. Supporting a small business isn’t always about buying something. A friendly comment, or sharing my work with your friends are two ways of showing your support without any cost to you.
I hope my creations bring you as much joy as I get from making them.
