I managed to get out of town this past weekend and while away I got to a farmer’s market. I am always drawn to the amigurumi vendors, but am always too shy to speak to them. Until this past weekend. The vendor mentioned how cool the snake looking eyes were on her axolotl and when I asked if she got them off AliExpress, she obviously knew I was a fellow crafter. She was nice enough to urge me on to do a market after I mentioned that despite having a family room full of stuffies, I have yet to sell any online or in person. So, with that little bit of extra support, I have been pouring through the event listings near me and am now on the hunt for a reasonably priced market for my first showing. This has also pushed me to reevaluate my logo (I think I’m on version 5 or 6 at this point). Looking to get hang tags printed, and then business cards. If I do an indoor market, then I won’t have to worry about a tent, so there’s a plus.
Over the last few weeks I have not really been making anything as I have mostly been doing computer stuff instead. But with the idea of doing a market I managed to make a ghost, octo, cow and a gingerbread man. Unfortunately this week is a bit of write-off as I have to drive my daughter to and from camp that’s an hour away. Four hours of driving doesn’t leave much time to get a whole lot of work done. Especially if it’s like today when I also had to take my son to an appointment, then did a Costco run only to have enough time to pee, grab a bite and then set out to pick my daughter back up.
I will be looking for smaller items to make with a market in mind as most of my stuff is on the bigger side. If you have any market bestsellers that you’d like to let me know about, I’d love to hear your comments.:)
